  • Passports
  • Documentation and visas
  • Requirements for U.S. visitors

Passports
All passengers traveling by air between the United States and another country must hold a valid passport, in accordance with the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative. This applies to all passengers, including U.S. citizens, and including those traveling to and from Canada, Mexico, Bermuda and the Caribbean.

For complete information on obtaining, renewing and replacing a U.S. passport, please visit the U.S. Department of State website.

Documentation and visas
Documentation requirements may vary based on the countries you plan to visit. Some countries require you to have a visa for entry, and some may require:

  • Proof of onward travel (such as itinerary/receipt)
  • Proof of sufficient funds for your stay
  • Hotel confirmation

U.S. citizens may visit the U.S. Department of State website to see entry requirements for any country. Non-U.S. citizens planning to travel to or through the U.S. should contact the nearest United States Embassy or Consulate for the most current information about documentation needed for U.S. entry.

Minors traveling outside of their country of residence without both parents/guardians may require additional documentation.

For further information regarding documentation and visas, all travelers are advised to contact the consulate or embassy of any country that they plan to travel through or visit.

Requirements for U.S. visitors
The I-94 form, available onboard, must be completed by all travelers entering the U.S., except:

  • U.S. citizens
  • Returning resident aliens
  • Canadian citizens

Non-U.S. citizens entering the U.S. under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP)
The operating airline will collect I-94 forms from travelers exiting the U.S. If your I-94 form was not collected upon exiting the U.S., you may still be required to turn it in. Please visit help.customs.gov for more details.

All VWP travelers are required to obtain an authorization via the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) before traveling to the United States. Travelers who do not obtain ESTA authorization prior to travel may be denied aircraft boarding. A third party, such as a relative, friend or travel agent, may submit an ESTA application on behalf of a VWP traveler.
