CURRENCY The official currency is the dinar (CSD) and 1 dinar consists of 100 para. Coins: 50 para, 1, 2, 5, 10 and 20 dinars Belgrade (Belgrade) is the capital of Republic of Serbia. The political system of Republic of Serbia is based on parliamentary democracy. Serbia have President of Republic, National Parliament and Government. Local government is organized on the principle of local self-administration through municipal or city assemblies, government and administrative bodies. The turning point in the recent political history of Serbia is October 5th 2000, massive post-elections protests interrupted the half a century long continuous communist rule. Soon after that, Serbia and Yugoslavia, after many years of isolation and international sanctions, returned within the framework of European democracy. Hundreds of newspapers and magazines are published in Belgrade, there are dozens of radio stations, and (depending on the part of the city) some 20-30 TV stations can be viewed. Along with dozens of political parties, several hundreds of non government organizations are active, as well as numerous unions.
